Talking About Race With K-5:

A Hands-On Workshop for Visionary Classroom and After-School Teachers

What do you say when a child asks you a difficult question about race? What do you do when you overhear students using racist language? How can you use your words to interrupt patterns of injustice? Border Crossers invites you to participate in an exciting day of professional development for teachers seeking tools and language to talk about race with students.

This is not a lecture or a presentation -- we will discuss our personal experiences of critical moments with students, learn theatre techniques to explore issues of race and racism, role play and work together to develop solutions, and maybe even start a movement. We will explore the specific needs of after-school teachers with our guest facilitator, Suzu McConnell-Wood, Program Director of Kids Creative.

Scholarships available. For more information, contact info@bordercrossers.org.

We hope to see you on February 4th for a great day of border crossing!
